yet
it can (cannot) be caught
and (but)
you can run beside (with) it
to free yours.
This poem about myself for others to better understand me, was written 7 or 8 years ago when I rediscovered and claimed a part of myself that had been pushed down for much of my life. What I love about self discovery is that it can happen constantly, if we are open to it. And, I totally am.
The original version said cannot instead of can, but instead of and, and with instead of beside. It’s changed today for reasons I wrote out but then erased. Composing and erasing seems a symbolic and accurate representation of both the change in the poem and the reason I choose not to elaborate.
I have been added to, so I added to my poem.
Learned through the rawest truth and the realest love,
Me.
